Dr. Richard Nurgitz
Meet your dentist!
Dr. Nurgitz has been practicing dentristry in Scarborough, Ontario for 34 years. After graduating from University of Toronto - Faculty of Dentistry in 1973, he set up practice up the street from the present office. While establishing his practice in a then new "Agincourt" community, he associated in a Don Mills dental group practice. He also was actively involved in the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, both in undergraduate years and after graduation, serving on many executive committees, including undergraduate big brother program, sports chair, graduate placement, & computer committee chair.
To fill out his evening hours, he fiddled around as concert-master of the Scarborough Choral Society pit orchestra 1975 thru 1984. The orchestra gave many memorable performances of Gilbert & Sullivan, Lehar, and Offenbach operettas.
When asked about his dental career, he said "I owe my success to my loyal patients. They have continued to come back year after year, even when many had moved a long distance from Scarborough." Perhaps it says a lot about the quality and care of Dr. Nurgitz's dental work. "My philosophy when it comes to dentistry is ensuring the patient's comfort and continuing dental health comes first. If there is no need to do any fancy dental work, I won't do it. I'm not going to look for problems that don't exist. But if there's a problem such as a cavity forming, I'll make sure that the patient's teeth are looked after right away."
And what does Dr. Nurgitz do when he's not being a dentist? "When I'm not "fiddling around", I'm spinning my wheels. I am an avid cyclist" he confesses, "I log 1000's of kms each season, cycling with the Newmarket and Richmond Hill Cycling Clubs - as well as competing in time trials and club races and weekend club rides, I love long distance cycling."
